94.8% of first-year students attended Eagle Summit in 2017
Eagle Summit is American University's orientation program for first-year students who will be starting at AU in the fall, and is designed to welcome you and your guests to American University. During the Summit, you will learn about academics and campus life at American University, while meeting other new students. Your group will be led by a current AU students who will help you acclimate to the university. In addition to learning more about academics at AU, you will learn your way around campus, spend a night in a residence hall, take your AU ID Card picture and much, much more. By the time you leave the Summit, you will be well on your way to success!
Orientation, Transition & Retention hosts several orientation programs throughout the summer for students entering American University in the fall semester. We can't wait to see you at one of our Summer or August Eagle Summit programs!
2018 Summer Eagle Summit Sessions
*NOTE: Please do not make travel arrangements until you have registered for an orientation session. Registration for Eagle Summit will begin on April 2, 2018.*
- Session 1: June 18-19
- Session 2: June 21-22
- Session 3: June 25-26
- Session 4: June 28-29
- Session 5: July 2-3
- Session 6: July 9-10
We also host August Eagle Summit which will occur at the beginning of Welcome Week (the week before classes begin).
The final Eagle Summit schedule will be available in late May. However, participants can expect for check-in to be available from 8:00 a.m.- 9:00 a.m. on the first morning. The student program typically runs until about 10:00 p.m. that evening. The second day usually begins around 8:00 a.m. and concludes around 4:30 p.m., depending on what you need to accomplish before leaving campus.
Students will be staying in south campus in a traditional residence hall with other new students, orientation staff, and residence life staff. Students are required to stay on campus the first night of Eagle Summit. We offer an option for students (and parents) to check into their residence halls the night before Eagle Summit, but the night before - called "early arrival" - is not required.
2018 August Eagle Summit Session
August Eagle Summit is similar to the summer Eagle Summit experience but is held during Welcome Week. Specific dates will be available in late spring of 2018.
Eagle Summit Program Fees
- $165 for students
- $95 per family member (over the age of 12)
- $50 per family member (under the age of 12)
Eagle Summit Registration
Eagle Summit registration opened April 4, 2018. After you submit your Enrollment Agreement and tuition deposit, you will receive an e-mail inviting you to register for an Eagle Summit session. Please do not make travel arrangements until your Eagle Summit session registration is complete.
