You are here: American University Admissions First-Year Students AU District Scholars

Are you a D.C. Public High School or Public Charter School student? You might be eligible for the AU District Scholars Award.

American University is committed to helping students in the District of Columbia further their education after high school. To that end, we have set aside $3 million for eligible DC Public High School and DC Public Charter High School students. The AU District Scholars Award covers full tuition, as well as room and board at AU. Eligible students will be considered for additional funds to meet full demonstrated financial need.

There is no separate application for the AU District Scholars Award. As long as you meet the criteria below, you will automatically be considered. We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity so that we can count you among our AU District Scholars!
