Thank you for expressing interest in our talented students and alumni. This Fall 2021 semester, we will continue to offer virtual recruitment opportunities to our employer partners. Virtual recruiting increases accessibility and allows for a more diverse candidate pool. We look forward to partnering with you to develop and implement a virtual recruitment strategy specific to American University. To get started, check out these tips on creating virtual internships.
Please take advantage of our online resources and services listed below and contact Sharena Payne for more information.
Meet exceptional students and alumni at our fall and spring Job and Internship Fairs, which are widely regarded as the most affordable and well-organized recruiting events in the D.C. area.
To generate buzz about your organization and further build your brand, host a virtual on-campus interview, employer meet-up, pop-in or recruiter chat. Pitch your organization and opportunity to students. Meet & greet virtually with eager candidates. Submit your session request through Handshake and partner with our Employer Relations Coordinator, who actively promotes your event to appropriate audiences.
On-Campus Interviews: Enjoy the efficiency and convenience of interviewing AU students and alumni virtually through our free On-Campus Interview (OCI) program. Use Handshake to request an interview date, post available positions, review resumes from qualified candidates, and select interviewees.
Meet-ups: These virtual sessions tend to run 30-minutes to 1 hour and follow a presentation to Q&A format, share current events and projects with students and pique their interest in applying to jobs and internships.
Pop-ins: You’ll set up for a specific timeframe (typically Zoom or platform of your choice) and students will rotate in and out of your virtual room, these are casual and quick!
Recruiter Chats: This format is structured around pre-scheduled one-to-one appointments with interested students & alumni, chats are generally 20 minutes and are a great first step in getting to know candidates.
These events provide an opportunity to connect with AU students, alumni, faculty, and staff interested in a specific industry. Give professional advice, share information about your organization and discuss career opportunities. The AU Career Center co-hosts various annual industry-based events in partnership with the Office of Alumni Relations, and each of our partner schools (CAS, Kogod, SIS, SOC, SOE & SPA). These engaging events attract highly qualified students and alumni interested in a specific industry. Find additional information, as well as dates and times on Handshake.
