Handshake is the Career Center's career services management platform. This free tool enables you to:

• Create and maintain a profile that informs students and alumni of your organization

• Post descriptions and collect applications for full-time and part-time jobs and internships

• Coordinate on-campus interviews and information sessions

• Register for job and internship fairs, networking receptions, and other Career Center events

• Report hiring outcomes

• Connect with 1,200+ universities nation-wide using Handshake

Account Information

Register online for a free Handshake account. Once your account is created, connect with American University. We will approve your request within one to two business days. Employer approvals will take longer during official university holidays - including between Dec 24-Jan 1. If you have questions about your approval in Handshake, please email Elaine Salisbury or call 202-885-1852. 

Log in to Handshake, using your e-mail address and password, and complete your organization's profile. If past or present colleagues also utilize Handshake, simply review and update your organization's profile as needed.
