All-American Welcome is a time to meet new friends, build community, explore involvement opportunities, and enjoy events and activities as you are welcomed (or welcomed back) to AU. With more than 70 events and activities each fall, you'll find a variety of fun in-person events to you connect with classmates, learn your way around campus and explore DC. There's something for everyone!

Schedule Highlights

New events are being added to Engage daily throughout August, but we are listing just a few of our signature events here!

Families and guests can view events in Engage, but many are for students only. There are no All-American Welcome events that require parents, siblings or guests to RSVP or register. 

8/23 - 8/25: Explore DC! (new students only, advance registration required)
8/24 - 8/25: First Year Assisted Move-in Days, exact date/time is assigned in the student housing portal. Join in the festivities, including:

• Campus Resource Fair, Mary Graydon Center (all students, families and guests)
• Family Lounge featuring complimentary coffee, tea and tissues with campus administrators, The Bridge Cafe (families, guests and students)

8/25 & 8/26: Eagle Summit in person orientation activities, students participate on either 8/25 OR 8/26 based on move-in date. Details have been sent to students directly.

Wednesday, August 24
9pm: Late Night at the Rec games and activities with RecFit(all students)

Thursday, August 25
4:00pm: Men's Soccer home opener! (all students, families and guests)
4:00pm: Exploring the MOSAIC: Culture in Community with CapoeiraDC
8:30pm: Late Night Breakfast (students)

Friday, August 26
8:45 - 11am: Opening Convocation, new undergraduates assemble on the Quad for an event rich with AU traditions! (new students only - a recording will be made available for families to view after the event)
11am: School and College welcomes for new students - details are in Engage
9pm: Jazz in the Garden (all students, families and guests are welcome)

Saturday, August 27
9:00am: Playfair! New Eagles take over the Quad for high energy icebreakers and team builders. (new first year and transfer students)
7:00pm: Bender Blue-Out! Women's Volleyball (all students, families and guests are welcome)

Sunday, August 28
12:00pm: Culturefest (all students, families and guests are welcome)

Monday, August 29 
First day of classes

Tuesday, August 30
8:30pm: Drag Bingo (all students)

Wednesday, August 31
2pm: Celebrate AU!

Thursday, September 1
11am - 2pm: Fall Involvement Fair
