Alejandro Irizarry is a TV and film screenwriter from Caguas, Puerto Rico. He recently made his directing debut with his capstone short film, God Knows, made with American University’s District Cinema Society. He’s currently reworking the pilot script for his crime drama Double Vision, about corruption in the Drug Enforcement Administration the first draft of which made it to the quarterfinals of the Austin Film Festival Screenplay Contest. He’s also researching a nonfiction book investigating real-life corruption in DEA.
CAS, Creative Writing
Annie Przypyszny (Creative Writing, CAS) is the president of AU’s Creative Writing Club. She is working as a research assistant for Professor Melissa Scholes Young’s Literary Editing and Publishing Course, and has also worked as a Core Leader and a Poetry Workshop Leader for other creative writing courses. Annie is currently the Special Projects Editor for Grace & Gravity, a literary publication for DC area women, and also works as the Associate Poetry Editor for The Adirondack Review. For two semesters, she acted as Art Editor for AmLit, AU’s student literary magazine. Annie’s poetry is published or forthcoming in the journals AmLit, 30 North, ANGLES, Pacifica Literary Review, Oakland Arts Review, Watershed Review, Runestone, Ponder Review, Northern Virginia Review, North Dakota Quarterly, Tupelo Quarterly, and The Healing Muse.
CAS, Literature and Creative Writing
Nikolai Razumov (Literature and Creative Writing, CAS) is a junior and one of the former art assistants for AmLit, American University’s student-run literary magazine. He is a local Washington D.C. artist and has had his creative works published in multiple literary journals including PIKCHUR magazine, AmLit, and WinglessDreamer. Nikolai is passionate about LGBTQ rights and was a participant in the first National Transgender Visibility March in 2019. He is a member of the DC Area Transmasculine Society and was a contributor to the Trans Art Sale in 2020. Nikolai is an advocate for art accessibility and representation who regularly expresses his support online and in the local artist community.
