Spring 2022 Operating Status

Jacobs and Cassell Fitness Centers will open with modified hours between Jan 10 - Jan 30. Hours may change throughout the month and will be announced on our website if changes happen.

Reeves Aquatics Center will be open with modified hours.

Open Court in Bender Arena will remain CLOSED through Jan 30.

Group X will have a live, virtual schedule on Zoom through Jan 30. 

In-person Group Exercise, team Intramurals, and Club Sports will begin on or after Jan 31.

Community membership are paused until Jan 31.

No new community memberships will be sold until Jan 31. Students can still start their memberships any time.

Face masks must be worn at all times in the Fitness Center. Face masks must cover the nose and mouth. Failure to wear a mask may result in loss of access privileges to the Fitness Centers.

Welcome to Recreational Sports & Fitness! We can not wait to see all new and returning students here in the fitness centers, aquatics center, fitness programs and sports programs. No matter how you choose to stay active, we have something for you!

If you are a new student at American University, please take a moment to complete your online fitness center registration (found here) before your first visit. As long as you are enrolled in classes, there is no extra cost for you to activate your membership!
