SOE Awarded Grant for Educator Preparation Program

Grow Your Own grantAmerican University’s School of Education was awarded the 2022 Educator Preparation ‘Grow Your Own’ program grant in support of the Teacher Pipeline Project from the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) in Washington, DC. SOE’s dual enrollment program, implemented over the last four years, introduces DC high school students to education. Our Teaching Fellows Program fully supports DC students who want to pursue a degree in teaching, and DCPS has agreed to hire our Teaching Fellows, meaning that they have a job upon graduation. The impact is already being felt as more than 20 DC public and public charter high school students have successfully completed our AU education courses and six Teaching Fellows are in their freshman and sophomore years at AU.
